Here at House of Kojo, we’re firmly committed to the idea that your love of houseplants shouldn’t be at the expense of our pet’s safety. Whilst many indoor plants are known to be toxic to cats and dogs, we take extra care in stocking those that are perfectly safe to be around them.
We’re proud to be the home of the UK’s largest pet-friendly houseplant collection, with over 200 varieties to choose from, including intricate Hoya, colourful Calathea and picture-perfect Peperomia.
Hoya plants do not contain any toxic compounds that are harmful to cats or dogs, so if your pet happens to nibble on a leaf, it won't cause serious harm. Plus, their thick, waxy leaves of Hoyas are quite resilient and less likely to be damaged long-term by chews or nibbles. Best of all, Hoyas are easy to care for and require minimal watering! Our current favourite Hoyas include the Hoya Carnosa Krimson Queen, known for its fragrant and pink flowers, Hoya Linearis which makes a perfect hanging houseplant and the Hoya Australis, a great beginner-friendly plant.
Calathea plants, often referred to as "prayer plants" due to their incredible leaf movements, are a popular choice for pet-friendly households due to their generally soft and non-irritating leaves. This means that even if your pet brushes against them or plays with the foliage, there’s no risk of skin irritation or discomfort. Most importantly, they contain no harmful chemicals that may pose a risk to your furry friends. Some of our most popular houseplants in this collection include the Calathea Ornata Pinstripe, Stromanthe Triostar and Calathea Musiaca Network.
Peperomia comes in many varieties, each with unique leaf shapes, sizes, and colours, offering a diverse range of pet-friendly options for your home. Some varieties that may thrive in your home include Peperomia prostrata, also known as the String of Turtles, Peromia hope and Peperomia rotundifolia.
